Greetings from Ramya Murthy
Hello and thank you for visiting my website! While you are here, I would like to share my story with you.
Growing up in India, I was always encouraged to pursue the arts as well as a scientific education. For many years, I learnt Indian classical music and despite the rigors, I found that the creativity involved brought a lot of joy. The thrill of performing at concerts, practicing for hours with friends, and innovating as we went along – all made for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Like many of my generation, I chose to become a software engineer and eventually came to the United States to obtain a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston. More than anything, engineering taught me how to solve problems and the importance of pursuing excellence. I worked for several years as a software engineer but felt I missed the creativity that music brought. At the same time, I enjoyed working with people and solving problems. That is when I hit upon the idea of becoming a cake artist – a profession that, in my opinion combines art and science like no other.
I am a self-taught cake artist and spent nearly two years learning the various aspects of baking and decorating cakes. Being a foodie I have never been afraid to experiment with flavor combinations or trying out new recipes which I learnt from watching my mom and grandma back home as a child. Finally, in 2014, I decided to launch my venture 350° F. Running a business is hard work but a lot of fun too! From coming up with memorable designs to eventually bringing those designs to life – the entire process makes for a satisfying experience. Above all, it is a delight to be able to bring a smile to the families I serve and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their celebration and memories!
